Denark served as CM At-Risk in a joint venture with Clark Construction on the 500,000 SF Knoxville Convention Center, a beautiful facility perfectly positioned alongside the picturesque landscape of the World’s Fair Park and near the core of the city and the University of Tennessee.
The facility includes high bay, clear span exhibition spaces, ballrooms, high-tech meeting rooms, large underground loading docks, food service, and other user service areas. The project was “fast-tracked” and Denark worked with MHM to develop a schedule to allow separate bid packages while the design was being completed. Denark conducted constructability and life-cycle analysis of the building. As the City made decisions about design, Denark and MHM worked together to ensure the plans were properly executed.
The facility was turned over to the City of Knoxville in phases to allow staff to prepare for a large event that was under contract and punchlist activities were handled efficiently to complete the building 10 weeks early.
